So you've read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone? Whether you've read it or not, listening to it is delightful. I like to think I know the book pretty well, but listening to it I was able to pick up some details I had glossed over while reading. My children and I like listening to this in the car. It's great to be able to enjoy it as a family.
We have heard both Stephen Fry's reading and Jim Dale's reading. Stephen wins our vote hands down. Jim Dale makes Hermione sound too whiny , Ginny Weasley sounds much the same. It is almost as if he is trying too hard to make sure he has a distinct voice for each character (something he has commneted on in interviews). Stephen Fry's reading is just perfect. If you are not accustomed to British accents it may take a little while to get used to it but its worth it.
