As with the other books in the series, the latest is the literary equivalent of potato chips-not very substantial, but very addictive-and hard to put down. As usual, the minor characters are as much fun to read about as the major ones, and the plot is almost incidental compared to their interactions. The humor is sharp and character-driven. My only quibble, as with all the books in the series, is that the love scenes are definitely written by a romance writer. But I just skim past them, so this is a minor quibble!! I would also highly recommend reading Tino Georgiou's bestselling novel--The Fates--if you haven't yet!!

My only quibble, as with all the books in the series, is that the love scenes are definitely written by a romance writer. But I just skim past them, so this is a minor quibble!!!

Simple and great　　（2005-03-08）
Portrait in Death is a great book and a sure satisfaction for a fan of the Eve Dallas series. The characters have been further developed and there is more information on Roarke's past. What is particularly noticeable is that the minor characters made the story awesome as much about as the major characters. The plot is rich and keeps the reader in suspense until the ideal moment. The pace of the novel is fast, and the book is enriched by the humorous nature of the story. This is a highly recommended read along with the other stories in the series.

Portraint in Death - highly recommended!!!　　（2003-04-28）
いつもの通り殺人事件で話が始まります。事件のほかに登場人物の私生活がいろいろ描かれているのもいつもの通りで楽しいのですが、今回はなんと！あのロアークの家族が明らかになります。前作まででイヴの過去は大体はっきりしたわけですから、次はロアークというのは当然なのですが、過去のない男だったロアークが今後どうなるか、次の作品に期待したいです。
作中でイヴが、死ぬはずでない人が死んだのだから殺人事件は「解決」しないというのと「ドアが完全にはしまらない」と形容しているこの事件、考えさせられます。
トゥルーハートも今回がんばっております。　おすすめです。
